This is a statue of Kappa, a water spirit with a red cap and a white muffler.
He looks so cold in winter so local people put these on him. Various kinds of evens are held in Arima all through a year.
A costume play event was held on Feb.3, Bean Throwing Day. Girls in costume were asked to pose for a picture.

Arima is a sister hot spring of Joszankei 定山渓温泉 in Hokkaido.
They presented the town with a Kappa statue.



At Jozankei, they run a Momiji Kappa Bus during the autumn season.
